Tyler and Lauren

Tyler is a very good big brother.  Lauren already says his name.  She loves to play with hm.  He is so good with her.  He can make her laugh pretty much at anytime.  As you can see in this photo, Tyler and Lauren were playing with the blanket.  Tyler will pull her around the house while she gets the free ride.  I think I remember playing this game when I was young.

Update Friday, August 4

Just got off the phone with Mom.

Kristin and Joseph are now there taking care of her.  Mom has certainly loved the constant care and attention.

Mom visited her primary care doctor on Wednesday and the Dr. said everything looks good.  She is to continue to stay on low dose of medicine to lower her blood pressure.  She returns in 8 weeks for another visit.

Mom mentioned that she sneezed this week for the first time since surgery.  She is not supposed to sneeze.  She did figure out that you can sneeze through your mouth only.  Try that one next time you have a sneeze!

She visits the endocrinologist on 8/11 for results of biopsy.  At that visit they will also schedule her for surgery to remove the mass on her thyroid.

On 8/11 she also visits a neuro optomologist to see if there was any damage caused to the optic nerve as a result of this whole thing.

She talked with Jim today.  He will be in Spokane and then Vancouver because his daughter and her husband live there.

Mom, Kristin and Joey went over to UD's and AL's house last night.  Kristin and Joey were able to go swimming for a little bit.

Kristin mentioned that she developed about 30 rolls of film that my Mom has had for years.  She got them put to CD and she will be sharing those soon.  It will be fun to see.

Mom is doing great!  She is making great progress.  Keep her in your prayers.

Thanks,

Nathan

Update for Monday, July 31st

I spoke with Doug on Monday.  He took Mom to her Dr. appointment to have her growths on her thyroid aspirated(sp?).  They numb the area and then proceeded to take multiple samples from the mass to make sure they had a good sample to go off of.

The lab results of the biopsy with not be available until next Monday.  The Dr. did mention that because of the size of the mass, they will remove it no matter what.

Dave and Nancy are now taking care of Mom.  They arrived on Friday so that Rachelle could get home to her family.

Mom is doing well.  She is able to get up and move around a lot.  On Sunday, Doug and Dave made her a nice roast dinner.  Jim was visiting around that time and Nancy invited Jim to stay for dinner.  He accepted and they had a good time talking with him.

I will get another updated posted today.

Update for Wednesday, July 26

I talked with Rachelle this AM.  She said that Mom is making good progress.  Mom did wake up and had to go potty.  When Rachelle was helping her walk, her legs started to quiver.  The Doctors did tell her that she needs to walk around the house during the day to exercise her muscles.  So Rachelle is helping her walk around and she is going to limit her visitors so she can rest more.

Mom has enjoyed all of the phone calls, e-mails and visits.  You all have been such a huge blessing.  Your support sure has helped her and our family through this tough time.

Rachie also said that the results of the biopsy came in and it is benign.  They are running another test on it to make sure that the first one was correct.

If you have specific questions, please let me know and I will post answers here.  Feel free to call me to at 503-735-5724 for an update.

Thanks,

Nathan

Update for Monday, July 24th

I just got off the phone with Rachelle.  Mom is at home and resting.  They brought her home from the hospital yesterday evening.  The Dr. came in to see her yesterday and said there was no reason to keep her at the hospital anymore.  He said she was making great progress!

They are staying on top of her medication.  She is taking vicadin for pain.  Mom slept well and only got up once to go potty.  (Too much information???)  Maeser and Rachelle slept in Mom's room on the floor.

Funny thing was when Kristin and I were there with Rachelle and Maeser we all slept in the same room.  There was another room with a queen bed, but we all wanted to be in the same room.  (Actually, Rachie made us sleep in there because she was scared.)  It was fun to talk and laugh about old times.  I did discover that Maeser does snore like a grizzly bear!!!  I do feel bad for Savannah.

Last night Jim called and asked if he could visit Mom.  She said ok and so the team went into action trying to do her hair and get lipstick on etc.

Rachelle and John greeted him at the door and Rachie just commented on how nice and genuine he was.  He talked with Mom for a long while and as he got up to leave he kissed her hand and then touched her cheek.  Sorry to all of you non-romantic types, but I am sure my Mom and was giddy like a 16 year old girl.

Jim then talked with Maeser, Rachie and Doug and Erica for a few minutes and then left.  After he left Rachie went into Mom's room and started dancing with excitement.  Probably made Mom laugh too much.  Anyway, sounds like the visit went well.

Erica took Maeser to the airport this morning as he is headed to Portland for the reunion.  Rachie will stay until Thursday when Dave will be there to fill in for her.

If you have have questions, let me know and I can then post the answers here for all to see.
