Ice Storm in Oregon

On Saturday is snowed about 12" here.  That is not normal for the northwest.  The kids are loving it.  We played in the snow most of the day.

Last night the snow converted to freezing rain and left a sheet of ice on top of everything.  See the video below:

Just another day with family

So my nieces came over today to hang out. To spice things up a little, I was trying to dare them to go lay in the snow without any winter gear on. I was bribing them with chocolate and other goodies. Then all of a sudden then just said that they are going to go out and lay in the snow. So, they took a towel just in case and the following is what happened:

1. Sweet innocent Emma just minding her own business.

2. Cate doing the same.......

3. Then, Cate had to throw some snow on Emma. Those of us that know Cate, do not find this suprising at all. She usually is the one to start these types of things. Just ask anyone who goes rafting with her in Sunriver. Then Emma retaliates:

4. Then there was this cloud of snow and the two of them were throwing snow everywhere. No gloves mind you!

5. It ended with Cate getting the worst of it. I guess that is what you get when you start it! :-)

Meredith and I were laughing just watching them. Thanks for the fun girls!

Christmas Tree

Across the street from our house we have a couple of Christmas Tree farms.  Last weekend, I gathered the family for the long 2 minute journey to the tree farm.  We love living in the Northwest.  It is so green.  Take a look at some of the views:

Someone has to bring the tree in:

Let it snow!!

It doesn't snow very often in Portland. However, when it does, everything shuts down. We received a few inches of snow today and now we get to enjoy the day off as church was cancelled.

As of this moment it is still snowing. The kids are loving it.

Beautiful day today!

So I complained about the weather yesterday and then today was beautiful.  Dry and sunny!  We'll take it!

(I know the picture quality stinks.  All I have is a webcam in my office.)

Weather in the Northwest

Well, I have been slacking on my family blog duties.  I do use Facebook a lot to share photos etc.
So, here is my new blog posting:
The weather here is pretty crummy.  Here is a picture from my office.  Don't you all just want to move back to Oregon and enjoy the rain with us?

It's all about Facebook!

My dear husband stopped blogging and only does Facebook now. It has been driving me crazy for some reason. I think I just enjoyed all the post that he did on our family blog. Sometimes he would act like I wrote it but, it was really him posting. So this is my story. I miss our family blog. Please create a new post for me. Love, Meredith

Why are these guys scared?

These pictures are from our Trip to Idaho earlier in the year. However, I was looking at this one below and I couldn't figure out why Uncle Bob, Uncle Joey and Uncle Brian looked so scared. Then I saw the next picture:

Looks like it was a snow ball fight. Tyler vs. his Uncles. I would be scared too!! Go Tyler!

Tyler Loves Soccer

Tyler is loving soccer. It has been a lot of fun to watch him grow and improve. His team name this year is the USC Quackers. Crazy name, but that is what they wanted. Their coach is doing a good job at teaching them new things. We are starting to see a lot of passing which is setting them up for more shots on goal.

Go pahk yah cah in Hahvad yahd

We had some time to go and visit Harvard. When Bostonians try to teach you how to talk like them, they use the following phrase: "Go pahk yah cah in Hahvahd yahd." Translation is: "Go park your car in Harvard Yard." They really don't say their R's. We loved it. It was hard to not like it. They probably are amused when tourists try their best Boston accent.

Some of these pictures are from Harvard Yard.

The Freedom Trail - Boston, MA

On Monday, we were able to walk the Freedom Trail in Boston. For those of you who have the chance to visit Boston, make sure you walk the Freedom Trail. There is so much history there! The slideshow below will give you an idea of each of the places we visited along the Freedom Trail .  How grateful we are for the many who sacrificed so much for our independence.

Boston - Day 1

We are staying at the Westin Copley Place in downtown Boston.  Meredith is pictured in front of the Trinity Church .
The Redsox are playing the Angels so we had to go check out Fenway Park .  It was Game 3 in the ALDS.  We tried to get tickets, but scalpers were charging a ton of money.  We went back to the hotel and watched the game.  The game lasted 5 hours 19 minutes and Boston lost.  Game 4 is tonight.

Meredith and Amy in Style Magazine

Not sure if your heard or not, but Meredith and Amy made the cover of Style Magazine.  I always new they were trend-setters.

Lauren....Princess or Linebacker?

On Saturday we went and visited Bob and Rachie.  It was Brayden's birthday so we stopped on by to play for a while.  Brayden got the new Tiger Woods 2009 Wii game.  That is pretty fun.  From what I understand, Rachelle can take Bob to school on that game!

Lauren doesn't like us to do her hair.  However, when we go to Aunt Stephanie's or Aunt Rachelle's house, she will let them do her hair.  On Saturday, Rachelle put two pig tails in and Lauren loved it.  See pictures below.

This next picture is of Lauren just before she tackles Zach.  For some reason, our Lauren loves to wrestle and tackle kids.  I didn't think I was watching that much football at home.  (Thanks for being a good sport Zach and letting her catch you!)

Anybody recognize this 28 year old?

Maeser turned 28 on Sunday.  Happy Birthday!

Aunt Rachelle and Ashlyn came to visit

Rachelle drove out to visit us on Sunday.  It was nice to see her and Ashlyn.  Ashlyn and Lauren just played together the entire time.  They get along so well.  Ashlyn brought her cool pink horse and let me tell you, that thing can make some noise.  It sings lot's of songs and talks and of course those batteries seemed to be fresh.
Anyway, we gave the camera to the young ones and told them to take some pictures, so here you go.

Saturday is always busy

Well, we mowed the lawn.  Went to Tyler's soccer game.  Visited G.G. and did some yard work.  Then we went to Granny and Papa's to go boating.  Below are some of the pictures from the day.

Lauren enjoying the ride to Woodburn.

Alice and Lauren on the tube.

Tyler, Cate and Lauren
Emma and Alice

This is a shot of Meredith, Cate and Steph on the tube.  If you look close, Mere is showing off and trying to stand up!  Very daring.  That is why I married her!

Mere wanted you to see that I was completely unsuccessful at getting rid of my farmers tan yet again.  It's just a fact: only my arms and face tan.
