Geocaching in Lake Oswego

On Saturday, we took the kids out to eat at Baja Fresh (a favorite of ours).  Then we headed over to Trader Joe’s so Meredith could do some grocery shopping.  While she was shopping, I took the kids out geocaching.  We found three caches while we were out.  The kids had a lot of fun finding the caches.  Of course, everyone wants to be the first to find the cache.  We have established rules so that everyone gets a chance to find it.  The main rule is if you locate the cache, you need to walk away from the exact location and then you can announce to everyone that you found it.  This process repeats until everyone has had a chance to find the cache.  The third one we found that night was hard to find and took us about 10 minutes looking through the same shrubs and trees over and over until we found it.

What is geocaching?

Geocaching = lots of fun!

So we started geocaching as a family earlier this year.  We have found a lot of different caches in a lot of different places.  The kids absolutely love doing it.  As we were coming home from our vacation in Sunriver, Oregon, we stopped at Detroit Lake for a bathroom break.  I quickly pulled out the GPS while we were there and noticed there was one close by.  The name of the cache was “Bare Bottom.”  It sounded interesting so we went looking for it.  As we approached the location, it was obvious where it was located.  Alice and Tyler weren’t quite sure if they wanted to retrieve this one.

Of course, they couldn’t reach high enough, so I had to reach way up there and retrieve the cache.  Clever!
