UPDATE:
My parents sent me messages to "refresh" my memory. Apparently we did do some when we were kids:
Message from Mom:
I want you to know that we did some gingerbread houses out of graham crackers. They didn't have the "kits" they have now. We decorated with choc chips, marshmellows, and some gum drops. I don't know how many we made nor when we stopped. But, hopefully, you got in on one of them. This was not a yearly tradition. They didn't hold up very well and it was hard getting it to stay together. But, we usually have fun finally just frosting the graham crackers and eating them!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So much for the making of the house!!
Love you,
MOM
Message from Dad:
I don't know how old you were but we and your mother built some.
The year Jan and I were married we had a Christmas party with both families and we all made them from scratch and it was great for all. We had some candy corn and when Karson's roof was done he stood them upright along the top. We asked why and he said to keep the pigeons from landing.
I really like yours!!!
Do you know how happy it makes me to see that your house is not spic and span? Not that it is messy, just lived in. I spent all those years with a bunch of little rug rats while you only had Tyler and I felt like I lived in a trash can while you lived in a palace.
ReplyDeleteLove the gingerbread house. The kids did a fab job decorating it. I'd have my kids make one, but they'd eat it within a few days and a picked over gingerbread house is not cute to look at.
Steph,
ReplyDeleteYou are right. I posted this before Meredith saw the picture and she mentioned that the house looked a bit messy. I didn't even notice!
I must say that is it much harder to keep clean with 3 kids now.
